Car Park Capital has a great premise: take a 1960s-ish American city, pave over as much of it as possible, and encourage everyone to move to the suburbs so they’ll need cars to drive back into town and pay for parking.

It’s great satire, and the underlying management mechanics are enjoyable. Building a parking empire while making the city less hospitable to anyone without a car is not only a bit evil but also a touch accurate to the time period of American history as well.

Unfortunately, fires and riots happen far too frequently, often because you are working on the core areas that march you toward a goal. Worse, they drag on far too long, repeatedly interrupting what should be the enjoyable part of the game.

There’s plenty to like here, and hopefully Early Access brings some balancing to the unrest. I’d rather spend my time ruining a city through horrible urban planning than constantly putting out fires.

Car Park Capital enters Cryostasis.

The fire department is exhausted.
