The Undercut: Racing Manager wasn’t supposed to take over the entire stream.

It did anyway.

This may already be one of the deepest racing management games around. A new career immediately demonstrated why when our car arrived with serious problems. Free Practice became an actual investigation as we studied the car, identified its weaknesses, and then spent several races developing replacement parts to finally fix them.

That kind of detail is where The Undercut shines. There is an enormous amount to manage and understand, giving the feeling that you’re actually developing a racing team rather than simply making a few decisions between races.

It is still Early Access, and some oddities remain. The wonderfully appropriate Windows 95-style interface can struggle with scaling, leaving some elements oddly tiny, but nothing encountered today came close to spoiling the experience. ' Whether it can eventually dethrone a heavily modded Motorsport Manager remains to be seen.

It certainly has my attention as it’s clearly on a flying lap with eyes on provisional pole.

The Undercut: Racing Manager is therefore recorded as Alive.

We’ll be making many more pit stops.

Pronouncement: Very much alive.
