The Legend of Khiimori arrives in Early Access with a mostly clear path ahead of it. The experience leans toward a slower, more relaxed gameplay with bursts of wonder and stress — a frontier logistics game played from horseback set in 13th century Mongolia.
At times the experience recalls the deliberate pacing of SnowRunner, trading heavy machinery for saddle and reins. Terrain, distance, and patience become the primary mechanics, while also moving the typical survival focus from the human character to the horse. The horse needs to be fed, watered and kept healthy.
The current build shows rough edges. Certain parts feel unfinished and the planned story campaign won’t be around until full release. However, the core loop proved enjoyable during stream and it’s clear I will return to this down the road.
Notably, deeper systems such as horse breeding went unexplored during these streams but we got a glimpse of it’s potential depth and it’ looks like it will be fun to dive into.
For now, The Legend of Khiimori has been placed in Cryostasis — preserved until the Early Access journey reaches a more complete destination.
Pronouncement: Cryostasis pending further development.
