Planet Zoo 2 arrived with some renewed excitement on my part after enjoying Planet Coaster 2 recently, but after eight hours across two streams, simply keeping the game running proved to be a challenge.

Repeated freezes made playing frustrating, while seemingly everything requiring online connectivity failed to work. That included Franchise mode, one of the game’s major attractions, which I couldn’t even properly explore.

What I did manage to see was encouraging. The improved graphics look great and driving around Wildlife Preserve maps even brings a little Jurassic World Evolution to mind. The only big, non-technical issue, negative I had was the lackluster power grid building.

Unfortunately, those improvements don’t mean much when the game itself refuses to cooperate. Frontier Developments has a history of supporting and improving its games, so I’m reasonably confident Planet Zoo 2 will get into better shape.

For now, though, I can’t justify spending more time fighting technical problems when there’s so much else to play.

Planet Zoo 2 enters Cryostasis.

The animals are fine.

The game needs a veterinarian.

Pronouncement: Placed into cryostasis. Barely.
