over the hill offers a more relaxed take on off-road exploration, and after today’s stream, it’s earned a place alongside the games I’ll happily return to for a quiet drive.
Comparisons to SnowRunner and Expeditions: A MudRunner Game are inevitable, but over the hill has its own personality. Its stylized graphics are a departure from those games, while the core driving physics still provide plenty of satisfying off-road challenges.
The experience feels a little more forgiving than its muddy relatives, but that doesn’t mean you’re immune to trouble. Difficult terrain can still get the better of you, and apparently vehicles can end up rolling into lakes. Not that I have any firsthand knowledge of such incidents.
It’s a good-looking, enjoyable exploration game that doesn’t demand constant struggle to be entertaining. Sometimes a relaxed drive through the wilderness is exactly what’s needed.
