Bloodgrounds left early access last week and received its first formal inspection during today’s session. Expectations initially leaned toward teh game being more like an RPG experience, but the reality proved somewhat different.

Instead of wandering the world with heavy text and choices with some management, Bloodgrounds leans heavily into management systems. Players take on the role of arena operators, organizing combatants, managing resources, and building a complex that keeps the spectacle running.

This slant toward management gameplay ultimately proved more enjoyable. Upgrading facilities, hiring and leveling fighters and getting new equipment is right up my alley.

While the game may not get a bunch of time right away because of the continued busy calendar, it leaves a strong enough impression to warrant future streams if time becomes available.

The arena remains operational, and Bloodgrounds is officially listed as Alive. Maybe I need a Comastose rating for when it’s this busy.

Pronouncement: Still alive.
