Vlad the Landlord embraces the spirit of classic side-scrolling pixel games, complete with chunky retro visuals and music that feels pulled straight from an 80s or early 90s game.

The premise is simple and wonderfully absurd. Each night Vlad awakens to gather as much blood as possible before returning to his mansion by sunrise. THis blood is needed for three main reasons: to satisfy his hunger each cycle of days, unlock new powers, and recruit tenants. The demands for blood actually vary a good amount and you need to not only get as much ion as possible but decide how to use it.

What begins as a straightforward hunt gradually opens into a deeper loop of upgrades, abilities, and strategy. Managing victims, expanding Vlad’s powers, and navigating the nightly feeding routine creates a surprisingly engaging rhythm. Avoiding the cops, security systems, sleepless victims and their dogs all messing up your plans.

Despite its small scale and modest $6 price tag, Vlad the Landlord delivers a quirky and unexpectedly rich experience. It may not have a Twitch category, but it certainly earns a place in the record.

The night shift continues off stream for me for sure. Maybe I get lucky and it rises from the coffin one day to appear on stream again unexpectedly.
