Static Dread: The Submarine puts Lovecraftian horror aboard a military submarine, mixing crew management, hard decisions, multiple mini-games and the growing feeling that something invading the ship would be better left undiscovered.
Horror isn’t normally a regular part of the stream, but this one managed to land a few properly spoopy moments. Over more than five hours we completed a full run, dealing with the increasingly strange situation aboard the submarine and having a good time along the way. Except for the gun animations. Those are another kind of evil but we got past it.
We did fail at one important objective: defeating the big bad guy. Another run could offer a chance to correct that mistake, but after seeing a complete journey through to the end, there isn’t much desire to immediately dive back beneath the surface.
Static Dread: The Submarine is therefore recorded as Dead.
The submarine has surfaced.
Whatever is down there can stay there.
Pronouncement: Dead
