Security 51 takes the Papers, Please formula underground, putting you behind a security checkpoint at Area 51 where documents, clearances, and a variety of odd employees need to be carefully inspected.

It is a great premise, and there were several ideas here worth appreciating. Unfortunately, the experience never quite clicked.

Early time limits added pressure before the procedures became comfortable, but the bigger issue was how new rules and requirements were explained from one day to the next. Too often the wording created more confusion than the actual task, and the constant changes in what you do from day to day kept you from building up that muscle memory.

There is clearly plenty of effort behind Security 51, and others may have no trouble adapting to its particular language and logic. For me, however, the checkpoint never came together.

Security 51 is therefore recorded as Dead.

Please surrender your security pass.
