RoadCraft returns to the record following an extended absence, prompted by the release of the Reclaim DLC. After many months away from an active pulse, the new content provided a reason to revisit familiar roads.
The DLC introduces a subtle shift in focus, placing greater emphasis on scouting and exploration, echoing subtle elements of its cousin SnowRunner while still maintaining RoadCraft’s identity as a construction-focused experience.
Across roughly four hours of stream, the experience proved enjoyable and familiar. The core loop of exploring, discovering all the work that is required, and building remains intact. We mostly explored and played with a few of the new vehicles and mechanics. Destroying a building with a wrecking ball, chewing up trees like nothing with a giant grinding machine.
At the same time, some longstanding frustrations persist. Obstacles such as debris and poorly placed environmental elements — particularly rocks always staying on the road interfering with construction — continue to disrupt otherwise smooth operations.
Despite these issues, the return to RoadCraft was enjoyable.
The machinery is running once more. Time to eat some trees.
Pronouncement: Resurrected.
