Machine Mind presents an intriguing mechanical world supported by a distinctive art style and, for some, enjoyable combat. Across roughly three hours of evaluation the game entertained, challenged and only occasionally irritated.

Combat encounters proved fun and sometimes deadly, and the surrounding world was enjoyable for the required exploring. While the core experience was engaging, several areas could benefit from quality-of-life improvements and general refinement. You start on the edge of near instant death bordering you to the north and you find this out the hard way. Building could use some smoothing out to make it faster and more smooth for the player.

On stream we explored, battled and started to build our base. Progress started on the research tree adn technology started to make a difference in defence. Controlling bots and having some automated was fun, upgrading them even better.

As stated the game was overall enjoyable and few bugs, and none of the shortcomings proved fatal on their own. Unfortunately, the timing isn’t the best for more time in the game on stream.

With several games to check out over the coming week, Machine Mind ultimately falls victim not to design failure but to simple logistical reality.

The machine functioned as intended. The operator simply ran out of hours.

Pronouncement: Pronounced dead.
